A day after the sensational observations by the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report, demands for a high-level probe into the basis of the panel's findings intensified in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Speaking to mediapersons at Assembly media-point, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA from Siddipet, T Harish Rao, said that the 8th chapter of the report is totally baseless and far from the truth. The 8th chapter purportedly advised the Centre against bifurcating Andhra Pradesh and said that the Telangana state would become a haven for Maoists, and that communal tensions would rock it.
"The leaders and people of Telangana have lost their confidence in the report since it is wrong and favours the integration of the state," Harish Rao said.
Harish Rao also said that if these media reports are true, the Srikrishna Committee Report itself will lose all relevance. The people of Telangana have already lost confidence in the members of the Srikrishna Committee since the latter had thoroughly consulted the Seemandhra leaders while preparing the report, he added.
Demanding that the Centre order a high-level probe against panel members, the TRS MLA alleged that the members were 'sold out' to the Seemandhra leaders, and had submitted a report full of lapses.
The TRS leader also said that his party was contemplating to file a petition to push for a high-level probe.
Harish Rao further vowed to wage a battle, along with the people of Telangana, against the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee recommendations. He also demanded that the Centre introduce the Telangana Bill in Parliament without linking the issue to the Srikrishna Committee Report Report.
