Several Congress leaders on Wednesday held a silent protest before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Congress headquarters Gandhi Bhavan, at Nampally, in protest against the stripping of the Legislative Affairs portfolio from minister D Sridhar Babu.
The Congress leaders, under the banner of the Telangana Monitoring Committee, held the protest for over an hour. Those who took part in the protest include Rajya Sabha MP Anand Bhaskar, PCC general secretary G Niranjan, Intellectual Cell chairman Shyam Mohan and PCC secretary Yousuf Hashmi.
Speaking to media persons later, Anand Bhaskar demanded that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy withdraw his decision of changing Sridhar Babu's portfolio. He described the Chief Minister's action as an insult to the people of the Telangana region. (INN)
