Former minister T Jeevan Reddy on Wednesday demanded that the Congress High Command dismiss Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy from his post immediately.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Jeevan Reddy condemned the Chief Minister for stripping D Sridhar Babu of the portfolio of Legislative Affairs. He said that taking away the portfolio and giving it to S Sailajanath, a Seemandhra minister, was an insult to the entire Telangana region.
He said that the Chief Minister's action was revenge against Sridhar Babu who, he said, had initiated the debate on the Telangana Bill in the Assembly. Ideally, the Chief Minister himself should have initiated the discussion on such an important Bill, he further opined.
Jeevan Reddy said that Sridhar Babu was actively involved in the Telangana campaign even before the Congress Working Committee took a decision in favour of the state's bifurcation. "By stripping him off from the portfolio of Legislative Affairs, Kiran Kumar Reddy has tried to cause damage to the Congress party's image in the Telangana region," he said. (INN)
