Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) floor leader in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Bangari Prakash, on Monday, demanded immediate repairs of the various cremation grounds of the Hindu community in view of the Dussehra and Deepawali festivals.
Submitting a memorandum to GHMC Commissioner Sameer Sharma, Prakash said that patch works, minor repairs, sanitation, water facilities and lighting arrangements with serial bulbs at all the cremation grounds in Hyderabad and Secunderabad areas should be take up on the eve of Dussehra and Deepawali festivals.
Prakash requested that these works should be completed within a couple of days so that the community members could visit the graveyards to offer prayers for their departed ancestors during the festival days.
Prakash said that minor repairs at all the grounds including neatness and sanitation work (clean and green work), flooring work wherever necessary, water facilities in all the grave yards, lighting and serial bulbs arrangements and cutting of bushes and small plants were needed.
Reminding that the ongoing Bathukamma Festival was being observed, the BJP leader said that lack of lighting arrangements and neatness at the places would hinder the community members from carrying out their religious rituals freely.
Prakash also demanded that places for Bathukamma immersion like Musi River, small juntas and ponds, wells and other areas should be made more accessible.
