AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao today said that it was the Congress that introduced reservations for the BCs in the IIMs and the IITs, and that nothing significant had been done for those classes after that.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, VHR said that the reservations for BCs did not cross 27% even after 60 years.
He alleged that that was because the BJP was indulging in murky politics for the sake of votes, and was not sincere towards the welfare of the BCs.
He claimed that the BCs would not get justice under the BJP rule as the RSS wanted abolition of reservations, and the BJP government was in the hands of RSS.
VHR alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao too was indulging in politics for BC votes, despite neither he nor his colleagues in his Cabinet attending the birth anniversary celebrations of Sanjeevaiah.
He asked his party to remain alert in this regard, and see that the BC votes remained intact with it.
Towards this end, he advised the Telangana Congress leaders to organize a big public meeting of BCs and invite AICC chief Sonia Gandhi to address it.
Earlier, VHR paid floral tributes to Sanjeevaiah at the latter's statue.
