Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was obstructing the development of the BC community in the state.
Addressing mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan today, VHR said that KCR had decreased the BC reservations from even the present 33% in the Panchayati Raj elections, and wondered how even a 33% quota could be enough for a community constituting 53% of the population.
He demanded that the state government provide 69% reservations to the BCs in Telangana on the lines of Tamil Nadu.
He also alleged that the Chief Minister was not allowing BC leaders to become village sarpanches and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members in the local bodies.
