Six boys aged between 8 and 14 years met a watery grave in the Lower Manair dam waters today.
The boys were residents of Saptagiri colony in Hyderabad, and were identified as Saisrujan (14), Gopi (14), Pradyumna (11), Soumith (8), Sumith (8) and Sivasai.
Soumith and Sumith were twins.
According to information reaching the state headquarters, the boys played cricket in the morning and then went for swimming in the dam waters. As they went in to the deep waters, they drowned.
When the boys did not return home, the parents launched a search, and in the process went to the dam area, where they found the clothes of the kids. They then approached the police, who reached the spot and took up search operations. They recovered the bodies of the six boys.
The bodies were sent to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.
A pall of gloom descended on the colony with the cries of the parents and family members. (NSS)
