Telangana's Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) today announced that it had decided to increase the retirement age for its employees.
The TRS government had taken the decision to increase the retirement age from 58 years to 61 years for the collieries' employees some days ago. This increase will reportedly benefit 43,899 SCCL employees.
Company CMD N Sridhar announced the decision at a board meeting in his office today, and discussed the government's decision with other officials as well. The decision was then formally ratified by the board.
At the meeting, the CMD also revealed that, as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, all the employees who had retired between March 31 and June 30 would be re-hired by the company.
Besides this, the SSCL board took other critical employee benefit decisions, including to offer 10% reservations to its economically backward staff, and to make hiring practices more inclusive by providing flexible working opportunities to married and divorced women.
The colliery employees lauded the board's decisions, and expressed their gratitude to the CM for hiking the retirement age as well.
KCR had approved the increase on July 20 after the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham appealed to him to do so.
