Congress Asks KCR To Pay Contract Junior Lecturers On Time

TPCC president Revanth Reddy wrote an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao regarding payment of salaries to contractual junior lecturers.

TPCC president Revanth Reddy has written an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao regarding payment of salaries to contractual junior lecturers.

In his letter, Reddy said that contract employees and junior lecturers had played a vital role in the Telangana movement.

"You had said that there would be no contract and outsourcing jobs, and that they would all be made government employees in Telangana. Claiming that rulers in the undivided State had given much pain to contract and outsourcing employees, you promised many times during the Telangana movement that once a separate State came into being, these employees would be made regular with one signature. Moreover, this point was also included in the 2014 TRS manifesto," Reddy said.

"However, despite Telangana State coming into being, the hardships of the contract junior lecturers never came to an end. The situation has become so bad that they have to beg for salaries. Even the contract lecturers who had been regularised in May have not received their salaries for the month of April yet," he added.

Hundreds of employees were suffering without salaries for months together even though their duties were being performed properly, Reddy lamented. "It has become difficult for them to support their families due to non-payment of salaries for months, and they are struggling to pay their EMIs on time. All government employees were paid salaries on the first day of every month in the past. But after the formation of the new State, the situation has worsened with them not knowing on what day their salaries will be paid," he said.

"It is your responsibility to ensure that the salaries of the contract lecturers are paid on time. Otherwise, the Congress will not only stand by them but also prepare for direct action on their behalf," Reddy warned the CM. He demanded that the salaries pending for five to six months to contract junior lecturers be paid immediately; timely payment of salaries every month ensured; and that those who were not regularized due to various reasons be regularized immediately.
