Shortage Soon, Use Water Carefully, CM Tells City
Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao asked the people of Hyderabad and Nalgonda to use drinking water cautiously as there was a shortfall in the Krishna river.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today made a fervent appeal to the people of Hyderabad and the fluoride-hit Nalgonda district to be cautious in using drinking water as there was a shortfall of water in the Krishna river.
He cautioned that the people of the two districts should restrict their usage of water and avoid wastage as the level in the Krishna river was less than the minimum due to the river not receiving waters this year so far. There was lesser water than the dead storage level in the Nagarjuna Sagar project, too, the Chief Minister said. There would be a problem in supply of water to Hyderabad and Nalgonda districts soon, he said. Keeping the shortage in view, the people should be cautious in using drinking water from now, he said.
KCR asked officials to make alternative arrangements immediately to avoid inconvenience to the people, and work on the shortage. He directed the officials to supply Singur waters to Hyderabad from Tuesday night. He also instructed them to take immediate steps to supply water to Nalgonda by shifting waters to Udaya Samudram via Akkampally from Nagarjuna Sagar.
