BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao today participated in a meeting organised by the BRS in Nalgonda to fight for Telangana's share in the Krishna waters, and said that it was the beginning of another movement and struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, KCR said that he was taking part in the meeting despite his ill-health, as the objective was very crucial. He said that the ownership of the Krishna river waters was a life and death problem for all the people of the State, and that he had been talking about it for 24 years.
"It could be Krishna, it could be Godavari. If there is no water, we will not survive. Even if the water is not proper, the lives in this Nalgonda district will be miserable due to the flouride curse. The backs of 1,50,000 children of Munugodu, Devarakonda and other places have gotten bent due to the flouride problem. Several years back, even when all the agitators of this district came together and took the children infected with fluoride to Delhi and kept them on the Prime Minister's table, we still did not even understand the extent of the problem. There were no parties, MLAs or ministers fighting for Telangana at that time. And no one in power bothered. It was after the BRS government came to power that the district became fluoride-free," he said.
He also said that the people were saying that it was after the drinking waters from Mission Bhagiratha came that their sufferings were gone.
