Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) was now on the verge of drying up due to the negligence of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao who Reddy claimed had a tacit understanding with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and allowed the drawing of waters for the latter's State from the Krishna river illegally.
Presenting a resolution on the Krishna river waters in the Assembly today, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that KCR had a strong friendship with Jagan Mohan Reddy and had mortgaged the interests of the Telangana people by allowing AP to draw 3 TMCs of water per day illegally from the Krishna river.
The minister also presented the videos of Jagan Mohan Reddy "admitting" in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly that KCR had allowed the drawing of the waters.
"KCR never raised an issue and maintained silence when Andhra Pradesh was drawing 3 TMCs of water from the Srisailam project every day. He should be held responsible for the problems that Telangana is now facing on the irrigation front," Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged.
Reddy also said that the previous BRS government had agreed to 512 TMCs for AP and 299 TMCs for Telangana, which was a huge injustice by KCR to Telangana.
The minister reiterated that the Congress government had no intention of handing over the projects on the Krishna river to the KRMB, and that it would work hard for its due share in the river's waters.
