YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila Reddy was admitted to a hospital around 1 pm today with low blood pressure, weakness and giddiness.
It was the third day of her "fast-to-death".
She was reported to have dehydration and orthostatic hypotension.
She was also found to have severe oliguria, high anion gap metabolic acidosis and pre-renal aaotemia.
She is currently undergoing treatment, is reported to be responding appropriately, and is expected to be discharged later today or tomorrow morning.
She has reportedly been advised two or three weeks of complete rest for complete recovery.
It may be mentioned here that Sharmila had on Saturday vowed to continue her fast-to-death at her residence in Lotus Pond at Banjara Hills.
However, the police surrounded her residence and stopped her party activists from entering it.
The police also conducted medical tests on her.
Sharmila started the fast after repeatedly being arrested and over decline of permission to her to carry out her ongoing padayatra in Warangal. She alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was acting as a dictator, and that the State government had filed cases against her party workers who were actually the victims of attacks by the ruling party leaders on them.
She said that there were no reasons to arrest her party leaders, and alleged that the State government was suppressing the voices of dissent in Telangana.
Meanwhile, the police arrested 40 leaders of her party and shifted them to the Bollaram police station.
They also shifted seven other leaders of the party to the Banjara Hills police station.
