Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's sister Sharmila will begin her Paramarsa Yatra (condolence tour) in the Telangana region from the Mahabubnagar district on December 8 to complete the unfinished Odarpu Yatra (sympathy tour).
Speaking to the media during the release of the Paramarsa Yatra poster on Sunday, the Party Working President for Telangana P Srinivasa Reddy said, "Sharmila will begin the yatra on December 8 from the Kalwakurthy assembly segment, and will cover 10 constituencies in the Mahabubnagar district. The reason we are starting with this district is that 18 persons have died in this district on hearing the news of YSR's demise. The yatra in the district will conclude at Jadcherla."
Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had already completed the Odarpu Yatra in the Khammam district, and could not take it forward in the remaining nine districts due to various reasons. Now Sharmila will complete the mission and cover the remaining nine districts of Telangana, he said.
The yatra will also include consoling the families of those farmers who had committed suicide.
"There were 157 suicides due to the faulty priorities of the Telangana Government. YSR had a good following in the region as all sections of people had benefitted from his welfare schemes," he said.
He alleged that the TRS government had failed in fulfilling the poll promises, and that the same had been admitted to by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao himself.
Brushing aside the contention that the yatra had political moorings, Rambabu said, "There are no elections in the near future and no political motives can be attributed to the yatra. It is only to keep up the promise of Jaganmohan Reddy that he would console all the families that had lost a person upon hearing the news of YSR's death." (INN)
