Officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today caught the revenue inspector of the Shaikpet mandal Nagarjuna red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from a person.
According to the ACB officials, the accused demanded Rs 50 lakh from the owner of a piece of 15 acres of land located in Banjara Hills, a Syed Abdul, and asked him to pay Rs 15 lakh as advance.
The ACB officials also raided the Banjara Hills police station as the SI of the police station Ravinder too was accused of receiving a bribe in the same issue. The officials are now questioning the SI.
Abdul had filed a case in the High Court against the state government after it declared his land as government land. The High Court gave orders in favour of Abdul and declared him as the owner of the land. However, when Abdul went to his land and removed the board declaring it as government land to take possession, a case was registered against him for committing a criminal act following a complaint by the local revenue authorities.
Nagarjuna demanded Rs 50 lakh from Abdul promising to do him official favours and to remove his name from the case along with the Banjara Hills SI Ravinder.
