R Sravan Kumar, a Sub-Inspector in the Bahadurpura police station, was caught red-handed today when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant named Md Mujeeb, to spare the latter's son from a cheating case and return the son's cell phone.
Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau recovered the Rs 8,000 from the possession of the accused after a chemical test. He was arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally.
The ACB Director General said that the accused officer was dishonest in his duty. He also said that if there was any demand for bribes by any public servant, the public should contact toll free number 1064.
