Given the prevailing drought situation in the State, people should refrain from wasting water, Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao said.
During a high-level review meeting on the 100-day action program for the water department, the minister said that the people should be work extra hard to save water and avoid wastage given the acute scarcity.
He also asked the officials to make it mandatory for new buildings to have rain water harvesting structures on their premises. The minister also directed the officials to take immediate steps to ensure that water harvesting pits come up in all IT parks, industrial estates, and private and government offices across the State.
The officials were asked to hold meetings with companies, associations and people in this regard.
