The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has sanctioned Rs. 2.7 crores for the repairing of the dilapidated Dabeerpura Flyover.
The GHMC has also allotted the repair works to REPCON Consultancy and Services with the condition that the works should start by the first week of October and be completed within 9 months.
The Dabeerpura Flyover, built in 1996-97 by the erstwhile Municipal Corporation Of Hyderabad, is in a dilapidated condition.
Some of the expansion joints have increased to such an extent that gaps are visible from underneath the flyover.
The repair works had been kept in abeyance after the MCH became the GHMC with the merger of the Municipalities of the surrounding areas.
After repeated petitions, the state government had constituted an Expert Committee comprising Chief Engineers of different departments.
The Expert Panel had estimated that the repairing of the flyover would cost Rs. 1.6 crore, and had submitted its recommendations.
The work had been kept pending since the term of the previous Corporation expired before the works could be sanctioned.
A revised estimate prepared by the state government which also named the GHMC as the Supervisory agency.
The GHMC called for tenders for the restoration works, and the REPCON Company was chosen based on it being the lowest bidder.
