Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday promised that houses will be constructed for the poor at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh per house if his party returns to power in the next elections.
Addressing a meeting at Chintarevullapalli during the seventh day of "Vastunna Mee Kosam" padayatra in Mahabubnagar district, Naidu said that housing for the poor will be one of the top priorities of the TDP government. He also assured that concrete steps will be taken to address the drinking water needs of Mahabubnagar district.
Meanwhile, Naidu had a tough time placating a large number of women who came to the venue at Gadwal with empty pots in protest against the shortage of drinking water in their localities. The women alleged that injustice had been done to them during the TDP's regime. However, Naidu asked the women to register their protest with the Congress leaders. He told them that he was conducting the padayatra to understand their problems and that he could not solve them.
The TDP chief assured the women that the drinking water shortage will be solved through the NTR Swajala scheme when his party returns to power. (INN)
