Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today said that the government was working on developing all the municipalities in the state.
Speaking after participating in some development programs at Metpally and other places in Jagtial, the minister said, "Our government will spend Rs 500 crore to construct markets in 139 municipalities of the state. The development of the municipalities is a priority for us. There are now 142 municipalities in Telangana. For this, the municipal act and the Palle Pragathi scheme are both yielding good results. We have also allotted Rs 200 crore for the construction of public cemeteries in all districts of the state."
Rao said that Rs 2.50 crore was being spent to build a vegetable market and a mutton and fish market in Metpally and said that he hoped that the local leaders and officials would coordinate to complete the development works in the district.
SC Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar and some MLAs were also present at the programs.
Eshwar too spoke abut the TRS government's commitment to development and said, "While the villages in Telangana are being developed through the Palle Pragathi program, towns will be developed under the Pattana Pragathi scheme. The government spends Rs 148 crore every month on the development of the municipalities. Our government is all for improving infrastructure by spending adequate funds. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao too is determined to allocate adequate funds for the development of the municipalities."
