Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Konijeti Rosaiah was sworn in as the Governor of Tamil Nadu in Chennai, in a high-powered ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, and the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, M Y Eqbal, administered the oath of office to Rosaiah. Rosaiah succeeds Surjit Singh Barnala.
The function was attended by several politicians, both from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Telugu actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth and TDP leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari were a few politicians at the ceremony.
Rosaiah, 78, had a stellar career as an active politician. He served as a finance minister under Marri Chenna Reddy, Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy and Y S Rajashekhara Reddy.
He also presented the state budget 16 times, including a record-setting 7 times in a row.
Rosaiah was made CM of AP after YSR's sudden death in 2009. He resigned from the post of CM on 24 November 2010, and was succeeded by N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
