GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu has assured that the road improvement works in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would be completed by this month end.
The GHMC Commissioner along with Chief Engineer K Suresh and other senior officials conducted an inspection of road improvement works, which has been taken up on priority basis, in different areas. The night visit, which started at around 11 pm from Fever Hospital at Nallakunta culminated at around 1.30 midnight after the team inspected Indira Gandhi statue at Necklace road and areas from Basheerbagh to Liberty.
Krishna Babu said that all the recarpeting works of monsoon damaged roads at important stretches of various areas, which could not be taken up due to rains, would be completed by June next year. He inspected the laying of road works at Fever hospital and personally took the measurements of the road. He interacted with the quality control officials and found out whether the roads have been laid as per the specifications given to them. He also enquired whether proper milling and maintenance of Camber was being done to improve the life of the road.
The Commissioner further stated that the works which have been taken up for COP-11 on all important stretches have already been completed and remaining stretches will be taken up very soon. Apart from the roads; greenery, footpath, and drainage works will also be taken up simultaneously maintaining standardization duly beatifying the city in the similar speed which has been taken for COP-11. The road from Liberty to Osmania University has been taken up at a cost of Rs 8 crores and almost 90% of the work has been completed, with a remaining 10% to be completed in the next four days, he added.
