Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today participated in a Children's Mock Assembly program held on the premises of the SCERT office in Hyderabad.
The program was organized on the occasion of Children's Day.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, minister Ponnam Prabhakar and other senior officials were present at the event.
On the occasion, the CM said that such productive gatherings were necessary for society, and that the students should pay attention to the questions raised by members in the Legislative Assembly and the answers provided by the government.
"Opposition parties have the responsibility of questioning and exposing the government. Equal opportunity is given to both the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. The Speaker has the responsibility to conduct proceedings efficiently," he said.
"The government should manage the House in a coordinated manner, even if the opposition creates disturbances. However, it is unfortunate that some forces have been trying to stall proceedings and adjourn the House these days," Reddy lamented.
As the day also commemorated Nehru's birth anniversary, the Chief Minister reminisced about the late PM, saying that India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had introduced a revolution in the education and agriculture sectors, enabling equal access to all people to the opportunities in the country.
He also recalled the contributions of later Congress leaders. "Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh worked hard to implement compulsory education in the country. Similarly, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is credited with granting the right to vote to youth at the age of 18," he said.
