Telugu superstar Allu Arjun and 22 others have been named as accused in the chargesheet related to the stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film
Pushpa 2: The Rule in the Sandhya 70 theatre last year.
The chargesheet was filed on December 24 before the 9th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) at the Nampally criminal courts, more than a year after the incident happened in December 2024.
On December 4, 2024, Allu Arjun attended a special screening of the blockbuster at Sandhya 70, accompanied by other cast members. The victim M Revathi was present with her husband and children. When the crowd spotted the actor, it erupted in excitement, leading to a stampede. The tragic incident resulted in the woman's death, while her son was injured and is still on medical treatment.
The police then initiated legal action against Arjun, the theatre management, and the bouncers accompanying the actor. The actor was subsequently arrested and placed in custody for a day before he got bail.
The police finally submitted the chargesheet this week against 23 individuals connected to the stampede, including Arjun (who was named A11), the theatre owners, eight security personnel and others involved.
"Earlier this week, we submitted the chargesheet to the concerned court, detailing the 23 individuals implicated in the case," a Hyderabad police official said.
