Congress MP A Revanth Reddy today alleged that Telangana Chief Minster K Chandrashekar Rao, who "pretended" to be at loggerheads with the BJP-led NDA government, was in fact a secret ally of the saffron party.
"While all the Opposition parties in the state boycotted President Ram Nath Kovind’s address at the joint session of Parliament on the first day of the Budget Session, the leaders of the ruling party, the TRS, went ahead and attended the session," Reddy said.
He also flayed the CM for "reversing his stand" on the issue of the implementation of the Centre's three new farm Acts, and demanded that the latter immediately pass a resolution in the state Assembly opposing the implementation of the legislations if he truly supported the farmers of the state.
"The TRS government has given
its approval to the controversial farm laws introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after first
opposing the same. What does this mean? Does it not show the CM's tacit support for the BJP-led Centre? Instead of merely speaking of farmer welfare, the CM should pass a resolution in the state Assembly against the three laws," the Congress leader said.
Reddy then lashed out at the BJP Centre, and accused it of having turned the farmers’ Repulic Day rally into a violent one, and for hatching "a conspiracy" to end the ongoing farmers’ agitation.
Targeting BJP leader and Nizamabad MP D Aravind, he said, "The saffron party leaders in the state too have forsaken the farmers. What happened to the promise made by the leaders of establishing a turmeric board in Nizamabad?"
The MP also alleged that the BJP MP had cheated the farmers of his constituency.
Reiterating the Congress' support for the farmers', the leader said that his party would hold a Rythu Bharosa Deeksha program in Armoor on January 30.
The TRS supremo and CM, KCR, is often accused of being a secret BJP ally by other political leaders in the state. Following his decision to implement the farm Acts in Telangana, Congress leader Shabbir Ali had even asked the CM to
merge the TRS with the BJP, claiming that the TRS was a BJP stooge anyway.
