Former minister and BJP MLA Eatala Rajender today slammed the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for skipping the Republic Day celebrations at the Raj Bhavan.
Rajender said that it was unfortunate that the CM had skipped the important event, and claimed that it was a violation of the constitution of the country.
Speaking to media persons, Rajender said that the decision of the CM to not attend the Republic Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan was nothing but insulting the post of Governor of the state.
Stating that none of the senior ministers of the state were present either, he said that it was an unfortunate step, and that the lovers of democracy were hurt at the decision of the CM and his cabinet ministers.
He said that despite not attending the Raj Bhavan celebrations, KCR had taken part in the Republic Day functions held at his camp office Pragathi Bhavan, and had also paid tributes at the Martyr's Memorial at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. He demanded that the CM give his explanation on the issue.
He said that neither political parties nor governments were permanent, and that only the constitution was permanent in India.
Targeting Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy for his political comments, Rajender said that it was improper for Pocharam to make political comments while occupying a constitutional post.
