The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB)on Saturday denied reports which appeared in a section of the press that there was no supply of drinking water to a few areas of the city.
According to an official statement released by the HMWSSB, the water was supplied, but in reduced quanties.
The reduction in water supply was due to the
rectification work of leakage on 1600 mm diameter pumping main of Manjeera Phase III near Peddapur.
The HMWSSB had notified beforehand about the rectification works and had cautioned the residents of Serilingampally municipality and the Khanapur reservoir areas which include Tolichowki, Shaikpet, Karwan, Golconda, Mehdipatnam, Mallepally, Humayumnagar, Old Mallepally, Allabanda, Chintalbasthi. Residents of Lingampally and Hydernagar Reservoirs areas including Madhapur, Borabunda, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Thattikhana, Yellareddyguda, Erragadda, Balanagar, Moosapet and Prakashnagar, Qutbullapur and Alwal Municipalities were also warned about the reduction in supply.
The HMWSSB stated that the repair works were successfully carried out and normal water supply was restored to the areas under Lingampally, Khanapur and Hydernagar reservoirs.
The board also revealed that out of 120 MGD supply from Manjeera system, about 95 MGD was supplied on Saturday.
