The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) today announced that there would be no water supply in several parts of the city for 36 hours, from 6 am on December 27 to 6 pm on December 28, due to essential repair and maintenance works on major pipelines and water infrastructure.
In a press release issued by the Chief General Manager of the Metro Water Board, officials said that such planned shutdowns were required to prevent recurring issues such as pipeline leakages, low water pressure and sudden supply disruptions in the future.
The Board said that although the temporary suspension of water supply could cause inconvenience to residents, the maintenance works were crucial to ensure reliable and uninterrupted water supply across the city.
The areas that will be affected by the shutdown include Miralam, Kishanbagh, Balshettiketu, Mogalpura, Falaknuma, Bahadurpura, Jahanuma, Mahbub Mansion, Santosh Nagar, Vinay Nagar, Saidabad, Chanchalguda, Asmangadh, Yakutpura, Boggulkunta, Narayanaguda, the Adikmet reservoir, the Shivam reservoir, the Chilkalguda reservoir, the Alia Bagh reservoir, the Riyasathnagar reservoir, Dilsukhnagar and Bogulur.
The Board urged citizens to store sufficient water in advance, use it judiciously during the shutdown period, and cooperate with officials while repair works were underway.
