Labour minister Danam Nagender on Saturday appealed to the exiting Congress MPs to reconsider their decision of leaving the party to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Talking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Danam said that the Congress was seriously working to find an amicable solution to the Telangana issue. He said that several rounds of negotiations were also held with concerned leaders.
He suggested that the Congress MPs take a decision only if the Congress categorically takes a negative stand on the formation of a Telangana state.
He also said that the Congress Working Committee might discuss the Telangana issue during its next meeting.
Danam ridiculed the statement of TRS MLA T Harish Rao, who said that he would merge his party with the Telugu Desam Party if it agrees to certain conditions. He said that the merger of a sub-regional party (TRS) with a regional party (TDP) could never achieve statehood for the Telangana region. (INN)
