Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Sunday, said he is ready to face a fresh probe into the Volkswagen scam.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa denied allegations leveled against him by YSR Congress leader Sharmila, who stated that he was involved in the scam.
Stating that neither Sharmila nor her mother Vijayamma has any moral right to speak about corruption, he said that he was ready to face a fresh probe into the Volkswagen issue.
Asking Vijayamma and Sharmila to write a letter to the investigation agencies seeking a probe into the Volkswagen scam, he said that YSR Congress leaders must also agree for a fresh probe into the murder of TDP leader Paritala Ravi to clear the name of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
The PCC chief alleged that Sharmila's husband Anil Kumar was involved in the illegal mining in Bayyaram. He said Sharmila must first clear the corruption charges against her husband and her brother Jagan before commenting on Congress leaders.
Botsa also refuted YSR Congress leaders' allegations that the Congress knew beforehand about the possibility of the helicopter crash in which former CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was killed. He said that Congress leaders would have stopped YSR at any cost from travelling in the ill-fated helicopter if they had even a hint about a possible accident.
The PCC president also demanded that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu clarify allegations leveled against him by Kola Krishna Mohan. He advised Naidu to retire from politics as, he said, he has "lost grip over the subject".
Naidu is making promises the people as if he was facing a general election and not a by-election. However, he has failed to present a proper agenda to the voters, he said.
While appealing the people to vote for the Congress, Botsa said that people would be wasting their precious votes if they use them for the YSR Congress or the TDP. He said that voting in favour of YSR Congress candidates would be voting for corruption and violence. (INN)
