BRS working president K T Rama Rao today demanded that Rahul Gandhi direct the Telangana Congress leadership and the Chief Minister to immediately annul all agreements made with the Adani group.
Addressing media persons at Telangana Bhavan, KTR claimed that the stances of the Congress leaders on Adani at the national and State levels were contradictory.
KTR accused Gandhi of hypocrisy for criticizing Adani's alleged corrupt practices at the national level while staying silent about the Telangana Congress government's close associations with the group.
He said that the Congress government in Telangana had entered into business agreements worth Rs 12,400 crore with Adani, including in green energy, data centres and cement. He also pointed out that the Congress government had accepted a Rs 100 crore donation from the Adani group for the Telangana Skill University.
"If Rahul Gandhi is genuine about his accusations of corruption against Adani, why hasn't he asked the Telangana Congress government to cancel the agreements with Adani? How can the Congress portray Adani as corrupt in Delhi while treating him as trustworthy in Telangana?" KTR asked.
KTR called on the Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy to explain his meetings and business dealings with Adani. He also asked whether the Congress leadership in the State genuinely supported the national party leaders' demand for Adani's arrest or whether it is complicit in the alleged irregularities.
"Revanth Reddy must disclose his position on Adani to the people of Telangana. How can he criticize Adani on one hand and engage in large-scale collaborations with him on the other? Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy are engaging in opportunism. They must clarify their stance to the people of Telangana," KTR said.
KTR claimed that the erstwhile BRS government had declined all proposals from the Adani group, and had consistently opposed the privatization of public resources. He accused the Congress of prioritizing corporate interests over the welfare of Telangana's people, and demanded transparency in all agreements made with Adani.
KTR demanded the immediate cancellation of all agreements between the Telangana Congress government and the Adani group, a public explanation from Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy, about their association with Adani, and return of the Rs 100 crore donation from Adani to the Telangana Skill University. He also urged the media and the public to question the Congress and the BJP on their inconsistent stances regarding Adani.
"Rahul Gandhi must emulate Kenya's example, where the government cancelled all contracts with Adani after allegations of corruption surfaced. If he fails to act, it exposes the Congress party's lack of integrity," KTR concluded.
