A reactor blast at a chemical factory in Sangareddy's IDA Bollaram today left eight labourers injured.
The workers of Vindhya Organics, a chemical factory, noticed the fire from the explosion, and ran out to save their lives.
By the time local police and the fire department staff reached the site to start rescue operations, the fire had spread so much that more than five fire engines had to be used to douse the flames.
Fortunately, most of the factory's 120 workers were out for lunch when the blast took place. However, eight labourers had to be rushed to a nearby hospital, Mamatha, after sustaining serious injuries.
Following the incident, Patancheru MLA Mahipal Reddy visited the site and also interacted with the victims.
He assured the blast victims that they would receive compensation soon.
The MLA claimed that the accident was caused solely by the negligence of the company's management.
"The blast occurred due to the management's failure to cool the boilers on the factory's premises. The government will hold talks with the management to ensure that compensation is offered to the injured workers," he added.
The MLA asked the management of the company to take the necessary precautions to avoid any such occurrences in the future.
He then instructed the the doctors treating the workers to look after them well.
