On the occasion of the BRS Formation Day, party working president K T Rama Rao unfurled the party flag at Telangana Bhavan in the city today.
He was joined by the Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Council S Madhusudhana Chary, party MLAs, MPs and MLCs, and other key party leaders on the occasion.
KTR and other key leaders also paid tributes by garlanding the statue of Professor Jayashankar and the Martyrs' Memorial.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that the party's flag was a symbol of the banner of revolt raised by the people of Telangana whose blood boiled with indignation after enduring decades of betrayal and injustice.
"Exactly 25 years ago, our party president KCR established this party after resigning from every position he held through his previous political affiliations like the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly. He was driven by a singular vision: that the chronic problems plaguing this region should be brought to a definitive end, and that the region itself should once again rise to its former glory, flourishing with the wealth and prosperity it enjoyed in the past," he said.
"Many people are talking derogatorily about KCR, and there is no need to pay them any heed," he added.
Speaking about the proceedings on the day, he said, "We passed a resolution expressing gratitude to all sections of society and the people of Telangana. Another resolution was passed to thank those who cooperated during the Statehood movement and stood with us. We also held discussions regarding the welfare schemes implemented for Singareni workers."
The party had also held extensive discussions on the crisis in the State's agricultural sector, KTR said. He alleged that farmers were suffering losses due to the government's negligence in grain procurement, and that stocks had fallen into the hands of middlemen, and that procurement centres across the State were non-functional.
"We passed a resolution demanding that the government procure grain without imposing restrictions. If it fails to do so, the BRS will launch a protest movement in the villages," he said.
Accusing the Congress government of "chaotic administration", he claimed as an example that the United Nations had praised the Rythu Bandhu scheme for supporting farmers, but that the current government was undermining it. "They are distributing funds to farmers in installments merely for self-promotion," he said.
He also responded to reports regarding his sister K Kavitha's proposed new political party Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS). Making an indirect reference to that, he said that many parties came and went, but very few parties managed to complete 25 years of existence.
