With the sighting of the crescent, the Holy Month of Ramzan began in Hyderabad and its surroundings, on Monday.
The Central Ruiyat-e-Hilal Committee announced that the Holy Month of Ramzan will commence on 2 August, after the new moon was sighted on Tuesday.
Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Deccan President Syed Mohammed Qubul Pasha Quadri Shuttari made the official announcement after the religious Ulema (learned men) met at Hussaini Building, Mozamjahi Market.
The committee, headed by Moulana Syed Shah Qubool Pasha Shuttari, met this evening and said that the moon was sighted at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Adilabad, Karimnagar and other places.
As soon as the announcement was made, sirens were rung in Hyderabad and other important towns and cities, and the Muslim community exchanged Ramzan.
The meeting was attended by Moulana Mufti Mohammed Azeemuddin, Moulana Syed Mohammed Aulia Husssaini Murtuza Pasha, Moulana Syed Mohammed Hamid Quadri president Anjuman Quadria and other prominent Muslim scholars and elders.
Meanwhile the state government has given orders permitting Muslim employees, including teachers and outsourcing employees, to leave their offices at 4pm throughout the month of Ramzan, except when their presence is required in case of emergencies. (INN)
