BJP MLA T Raja Singh today warned the State government against giving permission for a show of popular stand-up comedian Munwar Faruqui in the city.
He asked the officials and police to take steps for the cancellation of the show, which is scheduled to be held on August 20, and, warning those who supported the organisation of the show of serious consequences, said that the BJP would set the venue of the show on fire if the government allowed it to be held.
The announcement of the show was revealed by Faruqui himself on his Instagram account. The show is called Dongri To Nowhere.
Faruqui was scheduled to hold a show in the city in January of this year, but that was cancelled in view of the growing number of coronavirus infections then. Singh had
reacted in the same manner even then against allowing the show. He had said that his supporters and he would go to any extent to stop Faruqui from holding his show, and also targeted State Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on the issue, saying that KTR should be ashamed of himself for being a secular leader.
KTR had reacted sharply to the allegations of Singh at that time, and made it clear that the government would not ban the show at any cost, terming Hyderabad a cosmopolitan city.
Faruqui reportedly made derogatory comments about the Hindu goddess Sita in a show, putting him in the eye of several storms, and making several States block his performances.
