The Railways' Computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) is being technologically upgraded even more for the purpose of archiving ticketing data.
Towards the same, backup systems have been commissioned and are undergoing field trials. As a part of these trials, the online testing of the systems will be undertaken on 20th April between 11:30am and 12:30pm, and between 3pm and 4:30pm, according to a SCR press release.
The testing necessitates the total shutdown of the PRS between 11:30am and 12:30pm, and between 3pm and 4:30pm, on 20th April.
During this total shutdown period, five major services will not be available. They will be no ticketing through Reservation Counters on the entire South Central Railway (SCR) zone; no internet ticketing for trains originating on South Central Railway, Southern Railway and South Western Railway zones (however, online ticketing will continue unhindered for trains originating on all other zones); no PNR and other related enquiries; no refund of tickets through the PRS system (the refund will therefore be arranged manually across the counters); and no Current Day Booking (CDB) facility.
The SCR has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the travelling public. (INN)
