A group of BRS MLAs and MLCs today met DGP C V Anand in Hyderabad to request the filing of an FIR against Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay Kumar in connection with the attack on the camp office of Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar and the vehicle of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.
They also called for enhanced security measures for Kaushik Reddy.
During the meeting, the delegation presented a memorandum claiming that BJP workers were responsible for the assault, which they attributed to inflammatory statements made by Bandi Sanjay. They criticised the police for their "failure to prevent the violent incident", and demanded that those responsible face stringent consequences.
MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy addressed reporters outside the DGP's office, and said that the law and order situation in Telangana had significantly deteriorated. He alleged that the assailants had intended to harm Kaushik Reddy, and urged the authorities to take action against Sanjay for allegedly inciting the violence.
BRS Assembly Whip K P Vivekananda accused Sanjay and Revanth Reddy of collaborating politically to damage the BRS. He insisted that the Union Minister should be named as the primary accused in the FIR, adding that the party had provided evidence to the DGP in support of this claim.
BRS Council Whip Desapathi Srinivas criticised the government for its "failure to uphold law and order". He claimed that there were multiple attacks on BRS leaders and their offices, and warned the government that a Bihar-like culture of violence could emerge in Telangana.
MLC Dasoju Sravan denounced the alleged derogatory comments made by Sanjay about BRS working president K T Rama Rao, and asked whether the BJP's ideology endorsed such abusive language. He expressed concern about the increasing crime rates in Telangana and raised doubts about the police department's effectiveness in addressing these issues.
