Following the death of a two-and-half-year-old boy N S Rachith at the Bachpan Play School in Hyderabad, the District Education Officer of Medchal on Thursday cancelled the licence of the school.
The play school at Malkajgiri has been sealed, and a case of death due to negligence has been booked against the management.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday Rachith was found dead in a water sump in the school. In an act of gross negligence, the school authorities had left the sump open in an area where predominantly toddlers roamed around. No one had even noticed Rachith's body until his mother Vishala came to pick him up from the school.
The incident, not an isolated one, has once again exposed the lapses in the safety and security aspects at play schools in the city.
