The rising intensity of the sun on Tuesday took its toll on 2 aged persons who had made their way to the Rachabanda program chaired by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at Borabanda, Hyderabad.
A 78-year-old woman, Nagamma, fainted at the venue after sitting in the sun, waiting for the Chief Minister to arrive.
Another elderly man, C Ramulu, too, suffered the same fate. The non-availability of drinking water at the venue contributed to the plight of the poor people who had made their way there, hoping that they would be provided ration cards and pensions.
Most of the people who had gathered at Borabanda returned back empty-handed and frustrated. Their frustration stemmed from the fact that the Chief Minister distributed only 14 ration cards and 83 pensions, while thousand others awaited.
Kiran Kumar Reddy has announced Rs. 5 crores rupees for the development of the surroundings of Borabanda.
The Chief Minister also went on foot on the streets and interacted with the locals. He assured them that the government would soon set up a degree and a junior college, a police station, an e-seva center and other facilities in the area.
The residents, however, insisted that the administration first ensured that the sewerage lines which often overflowed would be repaired and a police station would be set up in the area.
After the interaction with the locals, the Chief Minster asked authorities to take immediate steps in that regard.
