Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday approved the construction of the Pulakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme under the Guru Raghavendra Project in Anantapur district.

The project's estimated cost is Rs. 120 crore.

The proposed Lift Irrigation Scheme, which will be built on the LLC of the Tungabhadra River, will benefit 9,830 acres of gap ayacut.

Hydrological clearances already been given with 0.644 TMC from the Tungabhadra River.

Most of the beneficiaries of this project are small and marginal farmers belonging to the SC, ST and BC communities. (INN)
