Prosecute MLA Shankar Naik Under Nirbhaya Act: TDP

The TDP alleged that the police had washed off their hands by charging the TRS MLA under simple sections and releasing him, making the exercise an eyewash.
Hyderabad | 13th July 2017
Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy demanded that TRS MLA Shankar Naik be arrested under the Nirbhaya Act and prosecuted for pulling the hand of District Collector Preethi Meena.

Reddy alleged that the police had washed off their hands by charging Naik under simple sections and releasing him, making the whole exercise an eyewash. Such trivial action would encourage the accused, the TDP leader said.

He said that his party would lodge a complaint with the National Commission For Women against Shankar Naik.

It may be mentioned here that TRS MLA Naik had reportedly misbehaved with the District Collector by pulling her hand during a Haritha Haram program in Warangal.
