Projects More Important Than Special Status: Venkaiah
Union minister Venkaiah Naidu said that though the Centre had accorded special status to 11 States in the country, they were still economically backward.
Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu today said that the setting up of projects in Andhra Pradesh was more important than the granting of Special Status to the State.
Naidu was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a 30-bed hospital at the Podulkuru village in the Nellore district.
The hospital will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 3.80 crores.
The Union minister said though the Centre had accorded special status category to 11 States in the country, they were still economically backward and striving to get projects from the Centre.
Local MLA Govardhan Reddy, Venkatgiri MLA Ramakrishna, MLC Chandramohan Reddy, district Collector Janaki, district officers and public representatives also attended the function.
