Priority For Women Who Fought For Statehood: Kavitha
On the eve of International Women's Day, the Telangana Jagruthi chief and Nizamabad MP said that the TRS was giving top priority to the women in the State.

Telangana Jagruthi chief and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha stated that the TRS was giving top priority to the women in the State.
Participating in the International Women Day celebrations held at TRS Bhavan on Tuesday, Kavitha said that the Telangana region had been suppressed in all sectors before statehood, and the previous governments had failed to do justice to its women. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao however was giving high importance to the women now, she claimed.
The state government was introducing several programs for the upliftment of women, she said. It was extending financial assistance of Rs 51,000 through the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme for their marriage of the daughters of the poorest people, pensions to all women beedi workers, and opportunities for women in the market committees. The credit of providing 50% reservations to women in the GHMC elections also went to the Chief Minister, she said.
The state government would also give adequate recognition to the women who had participated in the Telangana movement, she said. In this context, the government had announced awards for 24 women who served in various sectors, on the occasion of International Women's Day, she pointed out. KCR had also decided to give a big share of the nominated posts to the women had participated in the Telangana movement since the beginning.
She also said that the government would organize a women's sports meet in July this year.
Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Rangareddy and Medak ZP Chairpersons Sunitha Mahender Reddy and Rajamani, Rajya Sabha former member Gundu Sudharani, Dornakal former MLA Sathyavathi Rathod, and TRS and Telangana Jagruthi activists participated in the program.
