A day after receiving a notice from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam, TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha met Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, also her father, at his camp office Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday and reportedly discussed the plan of action for her to face the investigation.
Kavitha drove to Pragathi Bhavan and was believed to be discussing the strategy to counter what the TRS believes is political vendetta by the BJP government at the Centre using Central investigation agencies.
According to sources, she also discussed the latest developments with her brother and minister K T Rama Rao, and other family members.
Sources said that Kavitha also spoke with a few legal experts and some other TRS leaders.
The CBI had on Friday issued a notice to the MLC under Section 160 of the CrPC seeking her clarification and asking her to attend an examination at either her residence in Hyderabad or in New Delhi as per her convenience. In her response, Kavitha informed the agency that she would meet its officers at her Hyderabad residence.
On November 30, Kavitha's name had surfaced in the remand report filed by the ED in a Delhi court for the remand of businessman Amit Arora in the scam.
According to the remand report, businessman Vijay Nair, who has already been arrested in the case, received kickbacks of Rs 100 crore on behalf of AAP leaders from a group called the South Group.
