Polio Death Rumours False: Ramesh
Principal Health Secretary P V Ramesh rubbishes the rumours of deaths due to polio vaccination, and calls upon all parents to vaccinate their children.
Exhorting people to ensure that their children were vaccinated against the dreaded disease polio, Principal Health Secretary P V Ramesh on Sunday said that there was no truth to the rumours doing rounds that 2 boys had died in Chennai due to administration of pulse polio drops.
Talking to media persons, the Health Secretary said that he had spoken to officials in Tamil Nadu and was told that the deaths of the 2 boys were not related to the administration of the pulse polio drops.
"I contacted health officials in Tamil Nadu and they clarified that the children died due to other reasons. The children's deaths were certainly not due to the polio drops," Dr. Ramesh stated.
Expressing confidence that the target of administering vaccines to one crore children in the state would be met, he called upon parents to get their children vaccinated compulsorily without bothering about rumours.
