The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday informed that the National Immunization Day which is a part of the Pulse Polio immunization programme, will be held on January 19.
Hyderabad has a population of 47.49 lakh who have 6,56,454 children belonging to the 0.5 years age group.
All these children will be supplemented with a dose of oral polio vaccine (OPV) which will eradicate poliomyelitis from Andhra Pradesh state making it polio free.
In this connection, the pulse polio drops would be administered at booths on January 19 from 7am to 6pm.
There will be a house-to-house activity on January 20, 21 and 22.
In order to oversee the proper implementation of the programme, the government reviewed the preparations of the District Task Force which has been given the duty to ensure successful implementation of the Pulse Polio Programme in the twin cities and also in the cantonment board area.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar will be convening the meeting of the District Task force with all the designated members, on Friday at 10am at the following address - 2nd Floor, Panwar Hall, GHMC building, Tank Bund, Hyderabad - to discuss the arrangements. (INN)
