Tension prevailed in some areas of the Hyderabad city, and its surroundings, on Saturday, when police foiled the protests by pro-Telangana activists against the "Samaikya Shankaravam" meeting of YSR the Congress Party.
The students of Osmania University attempted to take out a bike rally from the university premises, protesting the YSRCP meeting.
However, they were stopped at the NCC Gate and forced to return. This resulted in a heated argument between the students and the security personnel.
The police had to resort to mild lathi-charge at the Nizam College Hostel, to disburse the pro-Telangana students who were protesting against the Samiakyandhra meeting.
The students took out a mock funeral procession and set ablaze the effigy of YSRCP President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Similar protests were held at L B Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, Nallakunta and other parts of the city. (INN)
