The Hyderabad police today busted a conspiracy to kill TRS MLA Jeevan Reddy.
They arrested one Prasad Goud near the MLA's residence on Road No 12 of Banjara Hills.
The police also recovered a knife and two air guns from the possession of the accused.
The police found that the air guns did not have any bullets.
The incident took place at Vem Reddy Enclave of the posh Banjara Hills. The personal staff of the MLA called the police after finding out that the accused was moving suspiciously around the residence of the MLA.
The police are investigating the matter from all angles. They said that Goud was the husband of the sarpanch of Kalleda village of Makloor mandal of Jeevan Reddy's Armur Assembly constituency, and that he had developed a grudge against the MLA after the suspension of his wife.
The police also said that the MLA has had disputes with the accused for some time now.
The police are currently examining the CC camera footage of the area. They also found a chat of the accused where he was discussing procuring guns.
Banjara Hills ACP Sudarshan is supervising the investigation.
Meanwhile, responding to the news, the accused's wife and Kalleda sarpanch Lavanya admitted that the couple did have a dispute with Jeevan Reddy after her suspension from her sarpanch post.
Speaking to mediapersons, Lavanya alleged that Reddy bore a grudge against her and got her Rs 18 lakh bill for developmental works suspended.
She said that her husband Prasad Goud and she met Reddy and the district Collector several times over her suspension from her post and her pending bills.
She said that as a last resort, her husband Goud went to Hyderabad to meet Reddy to discuss the dispute with him. But unfortunately her rivals spread rumours in the village that her husband had gone to Hyderabad to meet the MLA armed with a knife and a revolver, she lamented.
