The Cyberabad Police has cracked the sensational
Kukatpally HDFC ATM burglary that took place last month.
Speaking on the matter, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police V C Sajjanar said that the police had arrested both the accused - Ajith Kumar and Mukesh Kumar - who had shot at the workers of a cash management agency called Writer Safeguard Private Limited, Srinivas and his assistant Naveen, while they were loading cash into the ATM, and at security guard Ali Baig, before decamping with Rs 5 lakh in cash.
74-year-old Baig, who shot right below his chest, succumbed to his injuries.
"The accused belong to Bihar. They had been living in the Dundigal area where they worked as daily wagers. We have been able to recover Rs 6.31 lakh, two mobile phones, a stolen two-wheeler, and one weapon from the accused's possession so far. These two are habitual offenders and were involved in a similar theft that took place in Jeedimetla. Their addiction to liquor and various financial problems prompt them to commit such acts," Sajjanar stated.
(The duo had repeatedly threatened some employees of a money transfer firm using a gun at Jeedimetla on April 16 and decamped with the money the employees had.)
