Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Thursday, welcomed the cancellation of tenders for the Polavaram project.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, KCR said that the TRS was always against the Polavaram project since it would displace hundreds of tribals in Khammam. He said that the cancellation of the tenders was a welcome move by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The TRS chief said that certain vested elements had tried to defame him by linking his name with the company SEW Infrastructure.
It may be mentioned here that the TRS was alleged to have benefitted from the Polavaram tenders in exchange for a withdrawal of the Sakala Janula Samme.
KCR also announced that he would take legal actions against those who had leveled the allegations against him.
KCR also asked Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu to "stop acting like a true disciple of Anna Hazare".
He alleged that several scams had surfaced during Naidu's regime as Chief Minister, but that Naidu never took action against the corrupt.
He asked Naidu why he had got a stay on his cases from the Supreme Court if he was so sure about his innocence.
The TRS president also alleged that several irregularities had taken place in land allotments during Naidu's tenure as Chief Minister. (INN)
